Providing Free Alcohol & BYO

If you provide alcohol free of charge, it is not a licensable activity. However, you cannot charge for it in any form. For example, including alcohol in the ticket price or asking for donations towards the bar counts as a sale. If guests bring their own alcohol (BYO), this is also not a licensable activity, provided they do not sell it. In both cases, you must still comply with our Policy on the Supply of Alcohol Free of Charge (ver. 1.0).

Selling Alcohol

If you sell alcohol at your function, it is a licensable activity. You must comply with our Premises Licence and our Policy on the Sale of Alcohol (ver. 1.2).

Raffles

If alcohol is offered as a raffle prize, it is treated as a licensable activity. You must comply with our Premises Licence and our Policy on the Sale of Alcohol (ver. 1.2).

Underage Drinking

Any function where alcohol is available by any means must comply with the restrictions on underage drinking set out in our policies.
